Since Honda was already operating in the luxury car niche in its home market (i.e. Japan), the management decided that venture into the luxury car niche in the American market. It is interesting to note that the first two models Acura Integra and Acura Performance Parts legend were designed keeping in view existing Honda platforms while more efforts were gain footing in the American market by establishing a loyal and widespread dealership network and aggressively marketing its luxury cars.
